SUMMARY

RemBind® outperformed GAC and Biochar in stabilizing a wide range of PFAS compounds in soil including the short-chain compound GenX. The immobilization remained stable for at least 115 days after treatment.

  • RemBind® outperformed GAC and Biochar in terms of PFAS adsorption in soil and the longevity of immobilization.
  • RemBind® immobilized short-chain compounds PFBS, PFHxA, PFHpA and GenX very effectively.
  • Biochar did not perform as well as RemBind® or GAC with short-chain PFAS.
  • For soil amended with RemBind®, the leachability of all tested PFAS was still negligible 115 days after treatment.
  • The RemBind® used in this study was very price-competitive with the GAC used in this study.
