Diesel Spill Bioremediation

Project Summary

Delivered successful bioremediation of diesel contamination for Pacific National rail operations using RemActivTM technology. The project addressed diesel spill contamination at a major train support facility, providing an effective solution for the rail industry’s spill response requirements. Working with environmental engineering consultants RCA Australia, the project demonstrated practical bioremediation for real-world rail facility contamination challenges.

Project Outcomes

  • Regulatory compliance achieved with final TPH concentration of 6,613 mg/kg, well below NEPM ESL trigger value of 9,270 mg/kg.

  • Rapid initial response with >65% TPH degradation within first month of application.

  • Simple application process requiring only single-dose spray application and organic absorbent covering.

  • Superior performance compared to natural attenuation, which exceeded regulatory limits at 11,720 mg/kg after 6 months.

  • Industry validation through independent assessment by environmental consultants and NATA-accredited laboratory analysis.

  • Minimal maintenance requirements with no ongoing soil management needed during treatment period.

  • Cost-effective solution providing practical bioremediation alternative for rail industry spill response.
