RemBind® Well Socks

PFAS in Groundwater Doesn't Wait

PFAS groundwater contamination is a major crisis that demands urgent action, yet current cleanup methods are frustratingly slow. Designing and building traditional systems, such as pump-and-treat facilities, often takes years. While these projects sit in the engineering and procurement phase, the toxic “forever chemicals” continue to spread further into the environment.

RemBind® Well Socks are a direct, practical response to this challenge. A passive, in-situ sorbent system that deploys directly into existing monitoring wells. When retrieved, the bound PFAS mass leaves the site with the socks. No new infrastructure. No power supply. No waiting for a final design. Installation can begin within days of a decision to act.

Suitable For a Wide Range of Applications

RemBind® Well Socks are suited to any site where PFAS contamination has reached the groundwater and monitoring wells are already in place, including any site with existing wells and PFAS in the saturated zone:

  • Commercial Airports PFAS contamination due to decades of aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) use in firefighting operations
  • Military Bases and Defence Installations The same AFFF legacy applies here
  • Industrial facilities Electroplating, semiconductor, textile, paper & packaging manufacturing
  • Landfill Sites Leachate from landfills that received PFAS-containing products represents a direct pathway for groundwater contamination
  • Fire Training Facilities Sites where AFFF has been applied repeatedly over time for training purposes

Supplied To Suit Your Requirements

Fits standard 2-inch and 4-inch wells. No new infrastructure needed.

Deployed length equals well depth in metres. Straightforward project sizing.

Available in a box or pallet.

Simple Installation

With a simple 4-step deployment, RemBind® Well Socks are designed to be installed quickly and safely, with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

  • Step 1. Size and Prime Determine well depth in metres: this equals the number of Well Socks needed. Fold each sock and soak in the supplied priming bucket until fully saturated. First-flush water turning dark grey is normal and expected
  • Step 2. Chain and Rig Connect primed Well Socks into a single chain using the carabiner hooks. Measure and cut the rope to match the distance between the well head and the groundwater level, then secure to the well plug with loop knots
  • Step 3. Deploy Feed the sock chain vertically into the well, keeping it supported throughout. Once fully inserted, feed the rope until taut and secure the well plug firmly to the well head. Ensure sampling lines remain unobstructed
  • Step 4. Retrieve and Replace Treatment duration is determined by a qualified environmental professional based on site conditions and monitoring data. Retrieve by detaching the well plug and pulling the rope and sock chain vertically. Package and dispose through an approved waste contractor.
