From July 1, 2025, Australia will ban the manufacture, import, export, and use of three specific PFAS chemicals. This marks a significant step in addressing the long-term environmental and health risks associated with these persistent compounds.
While PFAS have been widely used in industries such as firefighting, textiles, and manufacturing, their resistance to breakdown has led to widespread contamination concerns. With this new ban, there will be increased focus on how legacy contamination is managed and what this means for industries handling PFAS-affected materials.
As discussions around PFAS regulations continue to evolve, it’s clear that remediation strategies will play a key role in ensuring compliance and reducing historical and future environmental impacts.
RemBind® has been working on the remediation of PFAS in soil for more than a decade, and has seen tightening regulations in all jurisdictions globally. This has driven new tech innovations and remediation approaches and RemBind® remains at the forefront of this fast growing industry sector.
