Technologies to be Combined to Provide Cost-Effective Remediation Solutions to Address PFAS Contamination in Soil, Sediment and Groundwater

AquaBlok, Ltd and RemBind Pty Ltd are pleased to announce that AquaBlok has been appointed as exclusive distributor for RemBind products in North America.

AquaBlok, founded by civil and environmental engineers and scientists, has decades of experience in environmental remediation and coating technologies. RemBind sees a strong future in combining its world leading soil remediation products with AquaBlok’s history in technical innovation, strong engineering design and application support in North America. RemBind has been demonstrated at full-scale to be effective at immobilizing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in soils.

Plans for the partnership include combining the two companies’ technologies to produce AquaGate⁺RemBind, which is an aggregate particle coated with a thin layer of the RemBind adsorptive product. With this approach, the product can be used to treat groundwater, surface water and sediments contaminated with per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). The preferred approach will be to apply the material in a permeable reactive barrier (PRB) configuration or to place the material directly onto sediments. These contaminants have been found at 1,000’s of airport sites worldwide and are believed to constitute a significant health and ecological risk.
