This study was totally independent and performed by a world class soil research group at the University of Adelaide.
This study tested the sorption of PFOA by graphene oxide, iron oxide-modified graphene and RemBind®.
Variations in pH and ionic strength did not significantly influence PFOA-sorption by RemBind® or iron oxide modified graphene.
It was concluded that the risk of remobilisation of bound PFOA owing to rainfall events is low, but the presence of polar organic solvents may increase leaching risk.
The potential of using ‘mixed’ adsorbents like RemBind in‑situ for PFAS-remediation was highlighted, as it provides avenues for enhanced sorption through multiple mechanisms.
